With the pull of modern technology, it can often be a challenge to get our children to pick up a book and spend time reading. Yet we recognise the importance of reading and the intrinsic link between reading and learning. In order to encourage children to read more often and read for pleasure we have designed our own reading challenge - set across each child's year group.
Books have been selected for the variety in their themes, as well as the challenge they provide. We do not expect children to always read them on their own and really encourage reading together at home.
Once the children have read the books, class teachers will keep a record and children will be presented with a certificate for reading 5, 10, 15 or 20 books during that academic year.
Children will also recieve prizes at different leveles, with the opportunity to win a Kindle, should they read 10 books from their reading challenge list.
